Things to do at Home: Photograph a Screw!

It was my day off work today I thought I’d do some macro photography. I don’t actually have a macro lens, but I do have some extension tubes and a couple of old lenses which have fully manual aperture control. This is important with cheaper non-electronic extension tubes as it allows you to control the depth of field.

For those who might not know, extension tubes fit in between the camera body and lens to move the lens further away from the sensor which basically increase the magnification of the lens, allowing you to focus really close up.

If you’ve not tried it before I’d really encourage you to buy some cheap extension tubes and just take photos of things around the house, you’ll be amazed how much fun you can have!

I also did a bit of baking today and made some ginger biscuits (there’s not much better!). I thought I’d make a mini studio on the table with a sheet and an off-camera flash and do some food photography. Read about that soon!
