Things to do at Home: Glass Bonfire

It’s Guy Fawkes Night tonight and we’re not doing anything for it in our house (never got round to organising anything!), so I thought I’d take the chance to do some light painting with my camera and a lighter!

I found a load of glass beads lying around the house and thought they would make a nice alternative bonfire setting. I then set my camera on a long exposure and went about flicking the flame about above the glass bonfire.

The results were mixed and took a good few attempts to get right, but eventually I got a few good photos! I love the orange glow created under the beads, it could really be a fire! I also had a bit of a play about with some filters in post-production, the results of which you can see in the last 4 photos below.

(This post should probably come with a disclaimer: I cannot be held responsible for any mishaps should you do the same in your home!)

What do you think? (I love hearing your views!)
